i'm having problems with quake3 and md3, it just doesn't make any sense. i've been trying to get a simple box to export to an md3 file so that i can use it as a head model for beret. after i put a head_tag empty into the mix i finally got it to sit on the shoulders instead of floating in the air above the head, but i just can't get the skin to show up in the game.

i've tried different md3 export scripts.

i've tried using map textures as skins.

i've tried using the skins that the original head model would have used.

i've editing the md3 with a hex editor and tried file references like....
models/mapobject/head/skin.tga
models/mapobject/head/skin
/models/mapobject/head/skin.tga
/models/mapobject/head/skin.tga
...and nothing works.

in desperation i opened up beret's head.m3 with a hex editor to find out what it said there and this is what i found....

models/beretMaterial.010

...it's doesn't even refer to an image file, it's just a bit of crap that the script generated. yet the model somehow knows how how which texture to skin itself with.

Thats a shame, you were having so much fun
furver.no-ip.org/rainb...opic&t=751

I had same issues when making bots the easy with using BotMaker and it exported all sorts of files then made a pak for it.

But again, I found out that I had to put these files in locations like botfiles and botlibs.. I had directories everwhere. Also had to create a blank file to list so specify the name. I think thats what messed me up. Always something simple and stupid. With me its usually operator error :/

But.. I wont be doing it again :D
