I see. Doing that would certainly improve the gaming experience of many people. It's amazing how many of them try to connect to the freeze server once and again to no avail. This would allow the clueless masses to play without knowing how to cross an option in the menu.

Still, I think we should add some value to the game. Perhaps doing an extensive selection of maps (not just packing a ton of random ones), taking the levelshots, adding comments, clasifying them, adding the best mods we can put our hands on, enhancing (read changing) the menu (it stinks already) and basic documentation, changing the physics (didn't many of you say OA physics is crap?), I don't know, something that wouldn't taste so obvious, something fresh...uhm, like my fridge.

As for the creative part, I still don't see how doing this would allow people like hyp3rfocus and other potential contributors to learn and create interesting new things (his meshes and bla). Are we talking about different things or could this be achieved choosing a capable engine to do Jack's idea?

i like the idea with the choice to download a map/addon as default. and imo as much data as possible about the map/addon should be presented, for example a ordinary web-link to the map if the download is slow.

Just add a line of code to the ui.qvm that says: "Press ESC if you don't want to download this new content."
