Just kidding, lini (implying that you got a virus by installing an application from who knows where).

As for your problem, I'm not the expert here. Did this happen suddenly without you doing anything? Because if you didn't I don't see how changing a configuration that used to work can solve your problems...if you get me.

well ..this is rubbish and should be deleted:

(end of your config)
Code::
seta cg_music ""
seta max_fps "125"
seta com_max "fps 15"
seta com "max_fps 125"
seta r_vertexLight "0"
seta com_zoneMegs "24"

you can try these settings:
Code::
set com_maxfps "125"
set com_hunkMegs "256"
set com_zoneMegs "56" // or "128" or "24" or "48"
set sv_fps "125"

just write them in a file with the name "autoexec.cfg" put it in the same folder as your normal config and they will be loaded when OA starts..

you can find my complete cfg here: www.popejo.de/OA-linux-autoexec.cfg

if it fails, ask Joki. he is a living config-value-library.

you have "cg_delag 1"?
should solve the rocket and rail problem if you set it to "1"

hej lini, good to see you are still among the minions of rainbowality. :grin:
you could try to have your connection optimized automatically by using INETDOC.
Alternatively use tools that do it manually with tools like DrTCP and all of their clones. There are tutorials how you figure it our manually.

And for the config: You could wait until Joki finishes his oa-configgenerator (if this ever happens.)

Serverside lag is based on your network connection, to and from the server. That is your ping. Your ping will be different if you use a http protocol to ping a server as opposed to the open port an open arena server uses due to network latency.

cl_maxpackets 125 (how many packets are sent), snaps 40 (snapshots the server takes) and rate 25000 (how fast the server deals with the packets) are the most vital network settings but often (in Windows) you have ten/twenty files communicating through the Internet with both inbound and outgoing traffic, that is usually the biggest cause of network lag. MSN, QuickTime e.t.c use traffic even if they are in offline mode.

A difference of 10 ms server lag is not much, it is 1/10 of a second difference, and you have to consider how many people are using the Internet at any one time, sometimes (like during christmas) people use it more.

Then obviously each player on a server cause strain on that server, so in theory: more players = more lag because it burdens both network traffic and processing power from the server. Since OA/Q3 servers are optimized for network play they are generally less prone to network spikes, but it does happen and that is when your network indicator goes yellow (or all red).

If other players on the server lag, you will also "lag", and to minimize the effect of that you should use the cg_smoothclients variable, but regardless of what; the server will always try to balance network latency between clients to the best of its ability.

Clientside lag is usually down to a weak graphics card, in your case I would suggest updating your drivers, and if that doesn't help, play in a lower resolution. Setting com_maxfps 125 is useful in many cases if your card can maintain the 125 FPS. More tris = more render area = lower frames per second -> more client-side lag
