I suggest using the following commands.

/timescale 0.5
This slows everything down to half speed so you can see what is happening more clearly. Adjust for preference.

/r_shownormals 1
This makes the game draw the little lines on everything, even the stuff you can't see. This functions like a crude wallhack. It's a bit confusing at first, but hidden players are quite visible.

/cg_smoothclients 1
This setting helps smooth out movement when other players have packet loss, very low rate or low cl_maxpackets.

/demo blah.demo
This runs the demo. I find that if I try and run demos from the demo option in the menu they don't work for me, but they do run when I start them from the console like this.

EDIT - took falkland's suggestion of r_shownormals instead of r_showtris. included joki's suggestion of cg_smoothclients.

this might be a handy thing to add in your cfg. it is a script that allows to speed up or slow down a demo while viewing it, using your arrrrrrow keys. its q3/oa/ql , but should also work in UrT afaik.

yea, this is neat. you might want to use /cg_smoothclients 1 too when viewing demos, especially if you use timescale lower than 1 to soften the ruckler a bit. (don't use smoothclients, if you are using timenudge ingame!)

you got to use positive values tho.
/cl_timenudge -12 in OA/Q3 ->
/ut_timenudge 12 in urt or something.
