Fixed all the config files.. didnt edit a thing.. then this crap over flow thing appears cos the config is too big for defrag. I know its a size thing as I removed all the server weapon stuff and game settings and it worked fine. (image below). The limt is around 15K.
I also created an openarena.bat fie in the OpenArena dir containing...
openarena.exe +set fs_homepath "D:\OpenArena\"
Moved all the stuff from
C:\Documents and Settings\Kris\Application Data to my main folder "D:\OpenArena\" and everything works perfectly now. All my folders are in the one location.
btw lini, your ping is caused by cl_maxpackets. Look at your configs. This may have worse effects on some servers if your rate is high and the server lets you use the max rate. You cant really compare ping to different servers because of this.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the script file is too large, just that the actual scripting lines are too long, or too complex.
Personally I've never had problems with it, even though (in writing moment) my Q3A config is 15.8kb.

I´m using right now my old config (like 17kB) and ping is ok. The only problem I have, during the game, when is more players my ping grows until 150 but I thing is the server problem (overloaded ... maybe).

rest is like ping between 150-500 on NO CTF MAPS server

I put finally a new config is like 8 kB and I see a lag very rarely, I think u were right about a weight of the config. Over 16 kB starts to be a problem with ping something like a lag 150-500 ms every 60 sek.

Use a tool like MTU-Test:
- Click on Router, or direct(dsl connection (if you dont have a router)
- Click on start, to find the perfect settings
- In the lower right corner you will see blue values (optimal values) and green values (current values). If one of them differs, click on "Ändern" (= change) to set the green value, to the blue value.
- Click on "Werte Speichern" (save changes)
- Close the problem
Make sure you don't fall for the old lie:
"Hey, when i set LOWER cl_maxpackets my ping in score-window is displayed BETTER, so it must be a good thing".
If you have a good connection, just set it to cl_maxpackets 125 and watch your railgun and shaft suddenly become really nice :]
(Set it to 60, if the server is not on a really fast connection instead)
If you want to use timenudge:
Don't set it higher than 12 or 13 ms (/cl_timenudge -13), if you set it higher, you will just see other people "warp" more.
Also if you use any value beside 0, disable client smoothing (/cg_smoothclients 0), or it will cancel the timenudge-effect, only creating lag.
If you dont want to use timenudge, you can set cg_smoothclients 1.
4) Yell at other people, who live in your house and sharing the same connection with you, that they should get their freaking ass of the line, when you are trying to score!

Also: I woulnd't buy it for 10€, since my ping (<20ms on rainbow 1v1 servers) isnt really noticable. I don't care at all, as long as its below 30ms. (Unless i play q3dm17 of course ;P)
