The RN|CORKSCREW offers a unique style of play and some never before seen effects.

The intense action and countless hours of fun will make you never leave your living room again. This modification allows for some high octane-adrenaline pumping action, from start, to finish. All you need to do, is to make sure you keep your cool or you'll soon find yourself at the bottom of the food chain.

Some of the unique and interesting modes you can participate in while playing are:
  • Head Hunt - Where you shoot your opponents in the head, and pick up the head to score a point. Whoever collects the most heads, will be declared a winner at the end of the round.
  • Invisible Indigo - You, and your opponents are all invisible; until you fire your weapon and then become visible to everyone.
  • Score Me - A mode where accuracy counts for more than gibs.
Some other features of this magnificent modification are the implementation of:


  • Alternative Delayed firing
  • Grapple Hook activation.
  • Unique HUD system that shows accuracy stats, deaths and kills.
  • Railgun jumping, allows for amazingly high jumps.
  • Bouncing shots, you never now what you'll hit.
  • Anti camper - This feature will prevent camp-happy fraggers from camping. When you're not moving around enough, you'll be warned and eventually you'll blow up.
  • Colourful Railgun trailing, with explosions you toggle on/off.

These settings are available in the added 'Corkscrew Setup' from within the game.

If you feel like the modification doesn't offer the high paced action you was hoping for, the we can easily change that with a few single steps, just as an administrator to:

  • Adjust firerate - The server can easily adjust the firerate of everybody's railgun, and the players can handicap themselves which also effects the firerate. Such a small option can have a HUGE effect on the gameplay!
  • Enable Space protection - You hate the space maps just because you can fall off of them, right? Wrong! With space protection enabled you're just teleported back to the nearest spawn point whenever you fall into the void or the fog of hell. Of course you can't take your flag with you...
  • Toggle Optional powerups - The powerups are optional, so you can easily remove them if you want to set up a tournament. The quad damage now gibs anyone close to the point of impact, which gives it an "instant quad rocket" feel. The battlesuit and flight powerups are removed, as they are of no effect in this mod, the flight powerup would make you an easy target...
  • Invoke Spawn protection - Just one of the things missing in the original game... It keeps spawn spot campers from "scoring" cheap frags.

    All items are removed - To help client side (online) performance, all items that have no effect in instagib are removed.

Initially designed as a competition modification based on timed run challenges and tricks-jump contests, Defrag has evolved into a general tool which gathers the facilities needed to provide a convenient environment for performing tricks-jumping, challenging, training, or for simply having fun.

The RAINBOW|defrag is the only server to run this modification for Open Arena, and we are proud to do so. The purpose, unlike other modifications, is not to shoot your opponents in a small and enclosed arena but rather to improve your skills in maneuvering, jumping and aiming.

Defrag is addressed to players willing to improve themselves, to tricks-addicts desiring to train and monitor their abilities, compete, and compare their performance to others. But beware, there is a saying:

Once you Defrag, there's no way back!


What Defrag offers is a complete, and unique, way of playing. It features:

  • Thousands of maps specially designed for pushing you to your limits, and beyond. Maps are adapted both for Single Player mode, and for Multiplayer.
  • Speed Caps, which will teach you to capture the flags faster than you thought possible.
  • Support for both VQ3 and CPM physics.
  • Various meters and HUD's to support and guide you.
  • OverBounce and strafe-jump acceleration helpers
  • Ghost function which allows a player to race himself, or other players' records
  • Demos camming: enhanced third-person, free cam, free angles, panning cams, player-tracking cams, missile cams and endless posibilities of recording.
  • Cheat prevention measures: cvars restrictions, authentication, timer encryption, bsp checksum verification
  • Configurable Defrag hud and stats display.

Since Defrag is unique in the sense that it is designed to teach, rather than shoot, we have a very strict policy concerning players shooting each other when teamtrick mode is enabled.

- SHOOTING AT OTHERS WHILE PRACTISING IS NOT ALLOWED -
In addition to the above, the servers floodprotection (spam-filter) is turned OFF to minimize the potential lag that may occur. You are of course allowed to chat but constant spamming of messages/smileys will result in either you being kicked off the server, or that floodprotection becomes enabled and the lag increases. No spam!

The RAINBOW|tourney is a unique instance in the Rainbow Network. It features some very rare, never before seen, maps for intense 1on1 play. As the server is usually populated by players who enjoy the game, rather than the waiting; the maximum number of allowed clients is lower than normal, hence dropping the waiting time drastically.

The RAINBOW|tourney is the only server in the Open Arena community that features 100% custom maps. Whether you want open areas for your deadly railgun or a narrow corridor for bombardment of rockets; the maps are there.

Serious gaming requires serious settings, so to embrace the fact that we understand that the difference between a win or a loss, and that it can come down to one single miss of a rocket, the RAINBOW|tourney is highly tuned to balance the game of play.

Some of the features are:

  • No Quad damage
  • 8 seconds Warmup
  • Timelimit 7 minutes
  • Fraglimit 10 frags
  • Callvoting enabled

Action so hot you need asbestos underwear, rockets flying so fast that you need instant playback; this is the RAINBOW|deathmatch. Just as the name itself suggests it is one of the deadliest servers in the Rainbow Network. The gamestyle is hardcode and the action is intense, what more could you ask for? The RAINBOW|deathmatch will show your true colours.

If you have played on other servers, then you know how tedious it can be that other players vote for a new map while you are winning, or that they simply kick you out. Not at the RAINBOW|deathmatch. Here there are no callvotes allowed, so focus on the game instead of worring about whats coming next.

The RAINBOW|deatchmath has some of the following features:

  • 100% custom maps
  • Powerful Quad damage (deals x4)

The latest addition to the Rainbow Networks is the RAINBOW|ctf server. It features a wide variety of custom maps and has increased stability compared to a standard setup. It also features some of the largest maps ever seen in Capture The Flag, no only in size, but also in scale.

Adding remarkable maps like Moonstone, ut_subway and hal-palindrome can mean only one thing: instant success.

UPDATE: The server now allows for client downloads of the maps.

If you want to get all the maps used within the Rainbow Networks, then this .torrent is just what you need, it contains every single map that our servers use.

There is no auto-balance or force implemented on the server since we trust that our players have common sense. However, should it be known that a player performs team-switching repeatability to the winning teams side, then actions may be taken to prevent this from happening.
