aah found it :) unlagged.com/tools/cfgweed/

Never tried it so let us know if it's works out. Remember and keep a back up as you might want to put mod related stuff back in. I still have the same issue even splitting up configs in auto exec but I never went through all the seperate mod folders and done the same with them

Thanx chiquita for this link! it's amazing how many things u aware of ;)
I used it to compare my configs in my problematic ufreeze case and it didn't found anything weird (only sv_master{5,4,3,2}, sv_dlURL, cg_precachedmodels, cg_crosshairColor, mouseAccel and color).
Well useful link anyway :)

This one will remove duplicates. Duplicates are very annoying, as you sometimes have lower/upper case chars (affects unix) and copy and paste a few settings and not realise one var near the bottom may over ride the change.

Well it seperates mod vars so if you have loads of df_ then these are defrag vars so you dont include these in your new config (my.cfg) There are lots of other settings you can remove such as sv_railgun_ammo (if exists) as thats a server var but lots of these will end up in your config.

The problem = large configs.

When you get an overflow problem, starting the game will read the config and ignores the rest when the overflow occurs. Another effect this has is that it will not save your settings when you quit the game.

It's not so easy to have a fix but I think removing the seta's will help as the vars goto ram but then if you want to save changes you will be better doing it manually.

The contamination of configs occur when you connect directly from one server to another, the current settings will end up getting written to another mods config.

The safest way to prevent this is quitting the game then restart (and I always forget to do this). Then you have the default config in baseoa/ loaded, without any mod stuff - you can connect to a server and just load the mod config.

Here's my clean config for baseoa

// generated by quake, do not modify
unbindall
bind TAB "+scores"
bind ENTER "+button2"
bind ESCAPE "togglemenu"
bind SPACE "+moveup"
bind + "sizeup"
bind 0 "weapon 10"
bind 1 "weapon 1"
bind 2 "weapon 2"
bind 3 "weapon 3"
bind 4 "weapon 4"
bind 8 "weapon 8"
bind 9 "weapon 9"
bind = "sizeup"
bind \ "+mlook"
bind _ "sizedown"
bind ` "toggleconsole"
bind a "+moveleft"
bind c "+movedown"
bind d "+moveright"
bind e "weapon 7"
bind g "+button3"
bind q "weapon 5"
bind s "+back"
bind t "messagemode"
bind w "+forward"
bind ~ "toggleconsole"
bind PAUSE "pause"
bind LEFTARROW "+left"
bind RIGHTARROW "+right"
bind SHIFT "+strafe"
bind ALT "+speed"
bind DEL "+lookdown"
bind PGDN "+lookup"
bind END "centerview"
bind F1 "vote yes"
bind F2 "vote no"
bind F3 "ui_teamorders"
bind F7 "name GetQuaked!"
bind F8 "name n^300^7kie"
bind F11 "screenshot"
bind MOUSE1 "+attack"
bind MOUSE2 "weapon 6"
bind MOUSE3 "+zoom"
bind MWHEELDOWN "weapnext"
bind MWHEELUP "weapprev"

Why has only remained my bind vars? I thought it only erases the rubbish from foreign mods :|

configs are complex. There is no quick fix. No matter what you do, you will always end up with configitus, everyone gets it.

Just post config stuff here, to keep it together. That tool will help, but not be a fix.

I just tried advanced UI but fails to work in OA due to font errors.

I have it on 1.32 but rarely use it (only for localhost defrag) but if any game needs something like this then its OA :)

I just posted the read me and a few pics rather than explain it..
