until a particle system is implemented, this has to do for now

in the meanwhile r_lodBias 3 to get low poly impacts. (and everything else)

I tried r_lodBias 3 and it improves a bit the situation...instead of going down to 18 FPS I now get 28 (f#u&c{k@i*n%g! ati linux drivers).

I don't get what this does, though, the shotgun model changes a bit when I do it...

As for the particle system, is it absolutely neccesary? According to sXe there's no FPS drop down in Q3.

kp, I have the same problem with ati under linux, but not in Q3.
The tweak you provided does improve it a little though but shotgun still goes down to 3 fps when shooting a wall on close range in OA, even though I tried r_lodBias 3.

Plasma lags when several shots are visible at the same time, not as much when shooting at walls (climbing for instance)...

128mb gfx card can only do that much :)

i started oa just to check this and i get an extreme drop in fps when firing the shotgun into a wall on close range. the fps dropped from a steady 125fps to around 20 in a very short period and then jumped back to 125 again. i've got a ati radeon x1900gt using windows xp with a recent version of drivers.

i'm installing wow on my linux machine atm so i can't check it out just now, but i'll see what happens there later :)

It really depends on the hardware specs. When I set r_lodBias "3" I don't hav any FPS drop with the shottie against the wall but well I prefer to shoot my opponent :hoho:
